The 2022 Subaru Love Promise Community Commitment Award

What is the Subaru Love Promise?

Subaru and our retailers believe in making the world a better place and the Subaru Love Promise is our vision of respecting all people. This is our commitment to show love and respect to our customers and to work to make a positive impact in the world.

The Subaru Love Promise Community Commitment

We believe in being a positive force in something bigger. And it all starts right here in our community. Not just by our donations, but by our actions.

That's why we stay true to our Love Promise Community Commitment by partnering with a wide variety of community nonprofits and charities.

Every year, we join hands with our owners in the "Share the Love" event, giving back to our community-a community that's given so much to us.

So, every day, we strive to ensure our love is felt not just by our customers, but by all in our community. We do this because we feel it is the right thing to do.

We are proud to participate in the Love Promise Community Commitment. We're grateful, not only to be a part of our community, but to serve and support the causes and passions that are closest to our hearts, right here in our neighborhood.

All of the organizations we support have one thing in common: the unwavering dedication to improve the world and the lives of its people.

A partner since 2008, Subaru has donated over $28 million to the ASPCA and through Subaru Loves Pets has helped support the rescue, transport, adoption and well-being of over 230,000 animals across the country.

Loving the environment means more than loving the great outdoors. It means working to preserve it.

Since 2018, Subaru has partnered with TerraCycle.  Participating Subaru retailers collect hard-to-recycle trash that was headed to local landfills. We collect approximately 2 tons of this hard-to-recycle trash monthly, which will be converted to furnishings and other usable items and donated locally.

It’s our goal to make the pursuit of knowledge available to as many minds as possible.

Since 2015 Subaru, in partnership with the American Association for the Advancement Science, donated over 277,600 award-winning science books.  In addition, through our partnerships with Staples and we supported teachers and students with donations of S400,000 in gift cards and school supplies.

In a perfect world, hunger would be history and hope would be commonplace. We believe a perfect world is possible.

In 2020, Subaru and its retailers made a donation to Feeding America to provide 50 million meals to help feed people in need during the COVID-19 crisis,* making meals available at 199 local food banks across the country.
*$1 helps provide at least 10 meals secured by Feeding America on behalf of local member food banks.

We should all have a chance to lead a healthy life. We’re aiming to give as many people that chance as we can.

Since 2016, Subaru and its retailers have partnered with the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) to donate over 167,000 blankets and 21,500 arts & crafts kits and reached nearly 150,000 patients in more than 780 hospitals nationwide.

How is Subaru of Ontario dedicated locally to the Love Promise?

Our Love Promise can be seen in various partnerships with local charities and non-profits. We're grateful for the opportunity, not only to be a part of our community, but to serve it as well. It is our promise to do right by our community.

Keeping Homeless Community Warm  –  Cheryl S

This year in preparation for the cold winter that is coming, we are donating over 250 pairs of socks and blankets. We're hitting the streets and handing out new socks and blankets to the homeless people in our area. We are currently asking for any gently used coats, jackets, or warm clothing. If you have anything you can spare, we ask that you bring it to the dealership where we will make sure your donated items end up with the people that really need them the most.

Selling Subaru Dog Toys  –  Cheryl S

This year we raised over $1,600 for our local animal shelter. We had Subaru Dog Toys that we sold and 100% of the proceeds were donated. We would like to thank all of our friends, family, and our wonderful customers that purchased these items and made all of this possible.

2020 Share The Love  –  Cheryl S

The Boris Lawrence Henson Foundation is our hometown charity. Last year we raised and donated $20,200 during the Subaru "Share the Love" event. Their vision is to eradicate the stigma around mental health issues. The BLHF provides access to localized therapy resources sourced through a network of clinicians, service providers, and counselors. The foundation is named in honor of Boris Lawrence Henson, father of Academy Award and Emmy nominated actress and founder Taraji P. Henson, who suffered mental health challenges without resources or support.

Crosstrek saved my son  –  Rick L

Being a Subaru family paid off in full this month. My son who drives a 2017 Crosstrek was involved in a traffic accident. Other driver was at fault. Front end of Crosstrek was destroyed, all airbags deployed and other than some soreness, was uninjured. The other car rolled over and driver went to hospital. Thank you Subaru for taking care of my boy. Car was “totaled” by insurance company on Monday morning. My son was in a new 2019 Forester by dinner time. His new Forester will be our family’s 5th subaru

Subaru Loves to Care  –  Samantha V

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) Orange County Inland Empire Chapter partnered up with Subaru of Ontario to deliver 80 blankets and 10 craft kits to cancer patients at the Riverside Community Cancer Center on Thursday, July 12, 2018. LLS staff member Samantha delivered the items to Christina who is the vice president of oncology services. Her along with the staff were going to distribute the blankets to patients to help keep warm during their hospital visits. The craft kits were going to be given to the kids as they waited for their parents to finish treatment. Christina expressed great appreciation for the items as she claims this small gesture brightens patients’ days. She is happy to be a part of the Loves To Care partnership between Subaru and LLS. She is already looking forward to next year’s delivery.

In Sept 2017, Subaru of Ontario proudly presented De Anza Middle School with 150 award-winning science books as a culmination from a Aug Subaru Loves Learning Campaign! Loves Learning is a Subaru commitment to education and supporting organizations dedicated to making learning as accessible as possible. In Aug, Subaru supported K-12 science education through a partnership with American Assoc for the Advancement of Science (AAAS). IE United Way & Subaru of Ontario Partner - 2016  –  Mercedes W

Inland Empire United Way was Subaru of Ontario's 2016 Share The Love hometown charity partner for a 2nd year! Throughout the 2016 holiday season as part of the Subaru Share The Love Event, Inland Empire United had a table display in the showroom at the dealership so customers could see and learn more about the United Way mission and what its doing locally in the Inland Empire. Customers who purchased or leased a new Subaru during the Subaru Share The Love Event were able to select a charity out of the 5 available where Subaru would donate $250 to per vehicle. Inland Empire United Way was one of those charities -- the donation funds generated will help improve the lives and futures of children and families in the Inland Empire area in need through investments in Education, Health, and Financial Stability.

Who Let the Dogs Out? Subaru, that's WHO!  –  Kristina S

Plenty of paws were in the water at the swim complex of Cucamonga-Guasti Regional Park for the San Bernardino County Parks' annual Doggie Pool-ooza event on September 10th and 11th, 2016. During this event owners brought their four legged pals to splash in the pool after the park closed their swim complex for the season. Over 1,000 dogs came to the event along with over 1,400 pet parents and other human patrons for pool fun, games, contests, vendors and food trucks. Subaru of Ontario was our Great Dane-Top Dog sponsor. They attended the event and set up a display table with FREE dog toys and other dog related items. The team was great to work with and really enhanced the event with their friendliness towards all the dogs and the willingness to greet each owner that attended the event. They were even kind enough to donate a $250 gift certificate for auto care and repair. Overall it was a great way to end the summer with the heat still sweltering. We love Subaru of Ontario and can’t wait to partner up with them again in the future. Thank you, San Bernardino County Regional Parks

Charity receives help where it was needed  –  Janice B

Recently, we assisted Meals on Wheels, a national charity that Subaru supports. The charity is broken up into local chapters and Riverside Meals on Wheels needed help and we answered that call. "We are a small office," said Janice Bielman, Executive Director of the Riverside Meals on Wheels program. "We needed help and we got it from Subaru of Ontario." The meals were delivered in Subarus provided by the dealership, but something else was also delivered. Visitors. You might not know it, but those receiving meals, love the food, but seemingly love the visitors more. They ask questions, get responses and have real human contact which nourishes them just as much as the food. The day was a success not just because of the involvement of the Subaru of Ontario store, but because of the dealerships employees. Bielman further stated, Frankie from the dealership delivered meals to residents and really stepped up to help. All the employees did really, this is a fabulous store. We'd love to work with them again!
